We are a large, lively and enterprising group and have had various themes over the past 20 years since our inception.
This is very flexible; adapted to encompass the members talks. In keeping with the u3a ethos ‘Those who learn teach: those who teach learn’, We do not have professional lecturers, but enjoy sharing our knowledge and research with each other. Our members may choose to do a whole morning's presentation or just part of the morning with others. In the past, we have shared our love and enthusiasm for our favourite galleries and collections, or our favourite artists. We looked at portraiture one year and the renaissance another.
Visits to galleries complement our talks. Over the years we have been to the The Wallace Collection, to Kew Gardens to see the Chihuly glass sculptures, to the Henry Moore Foundation at Much Hadham. to Oxford's Ashmolean Museum, and to the Stanley Spencer Gallery in Cookham.
The Group has about 70 members, averaging an attendance of 40 per meeting. We can accept new members. Please contact Margaret Thompson SGL.
